Validation of Aerosol Optical Depth Retrieved from SPOT Satellite Images
In this paper, the image-based retrieval algorithm of aerosol characteristics and surface reflectance is used to retrieve the AOD from SPOT images. The validation of retrieved AOD is made possible by using the AERONET data. Five SPOT satellite images are used to testify the algorithm. The results show that the RMSE of the retrieved AOD are 0.12 and 0.08 in XS1 and XS2 bands, although the larges...

متن کاملHyperspectral aerosol optical depths from TCAP flights
[1] The 4STAR (Spectrometer for Sky-Scanning, Sun-Tracking Atmospheric Research), a hyperspectral airborne Sun photometer, acquired aerosol optical depths (AOD) at 1Hz during all July 2012 flights of the Two-Column Aerosol Project. Root-mean-square differences from Aerosol Robotic Network ground-based observations were 0.01 at wavelengths between 500–1020 nm, 0.02 at 380 and 1640 nm, and 0.03 a...
متن کاملImproved algorithm for MODIS satellite retrievals of aerosol optical depths over western North America
[1] Quantitative evaluation of chemical transport models (CTMs) with aerosol optical depth (AOD) products retrieved from satellite backscattered reflectances can be compromised by inconsistent assumptions of aerosol optical properties and errors in surface reflectance estimates. We present an improved AOD retrieval algorithm for the MODIS satellite instrument using locally derived surface refle...
متن کاملAerosol Optical Properties Retrieved from a Prede Sky Radiometer over an Urban Site of Beijing, China
SKYNET is an international research network of ground-based Prede sky radiometers for the observation and monitoring of aerosol–cloud–radiation interactions in the atmosphere. The algorithm developed by SKYNET is SKYRAD.pack, which can be used to process the measurement data of Prede instruments. In this study, the latest SKYRAD.pack software (Version 5.0) has been used to retrieve the aerosol ...
